Writing biographies is always a challenge, but I would like to do my best to give you little bit of information so you can get to know about me as a helper.
I am a social worker living and working on Treaty 1 territory in Manitoba. In addition, I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. Prior to graduate school and my therapy practice, I was a school clinician here in Manitoba working within a First Nation community.
I am a strong advocate for community-based research and knowledge, social justice, and anti-oppressive practice.
Being committed to social justice means that I not only aim to empower my clients to overcome personal challenges, but also those that come from systemic issues. Without this focus, often therapy is only focused on individual 'problems' and not all areas of wellbeing are addressed that can impact an individual. This is why I utilize an adapted holistic model of practice that focuses on an individuals life from a biological, psychological, spiritual, and environmental(social) lens.
I have spent most of my career working with individuals and families from many different backgrounds and identities, and love helping adults navigate those challenging times in life. Often, we just need to have someone truly listen and assist us in unpacking our difficulties. From there, we can sort out our goals and the methods we need to use to achieve them.
I have a special interest in working with children and teens - which is the focus of the majority of my research. Children and teens often have to navigate complex experiences as they rapidly grow and learn - walking along side them during this time is a privilege I hold as a great honour.
In addition to therapy, I am a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba with experience teaching in the BSW, MSW, and Master of Social Work based in Indigenous Knowledges program. Additionally I taught in the Department of Indigenous Studies at the University of Manitoba as well. I love teaching and the mentorship I have been able to provide to my students. Finally, I am a proud member of the Village Lab, a community-based research lab based out of the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba where I am a Research Associate.

I believe healing happens best in a respectful and supportive environment. I aim to create a space where you feel valued, understood, and empowered with zero judgement. My approach is based on 7 key aspects that I always prioritize in my work:
1. Relationships Matter
I believe the connection between us is the foundation of effective therapy. By building trust, respect, and empathy, I create a safe space for you to share your thoughts and feelings. I am here to listen and support you as we work together towards healing and growth.
2. Non-Judgmental Environment
My practice is a place where you are accepted and understood no matter what. I respect that everyone’s journey is unique. Here, you can express yourself freely without fear of criticism or shame. I embrace diversity and strive to understand your personal identity and cultural background.
3. Holistic Approach to Well-Being
I see well-being as a balance of mind, body, and spirit. My holistic approach looks at all aspects of your life, including physical health, emotions, relationships, and personal values.
4. Client-Centered Therapy
You are the expert on your own life. My approach is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and preferences. We will work together to identify your strengths, clarify your values, and develop strategies that work for you.
5. Narrative Therapy
I use narrative therapy to explore the stories you tell about yourself. These stories shape your identity and experiences. By re-examining and re-writing these narratives, we can find new meanings and possibilities, helping you to create a more empowering life story.
6. Trauma-Informed Care
I understand that trauma can have a deep impact on your life. My trauma-informed approach focuses on safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. I create a safe environment for you to explore and heal from your experiences.
7. Cultural Safety
Cultural safety is a priority in my practice. I respect and value your cultural identity, beliefs, and experiences. I strive to create an environment where you feel culturally safe and understood. I am committed to ongoing learning about different cultures and addressing any biases to ensure that our work together is respectful and inclusive.
My Commitment
I am committed to continuous learning and self-reflection to provide the best care. I follow ethical standards and maintain confidentiality to protect your privacy. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to EVERY SINGLE PERSON regardless your beliefs, identity, and/or cultural background.
Thank you for considering me as your therapist. I look forward to supporting your growth and celebrating your achievements!

I have been on my educational journey since 2007 and firmly believe that we as people need to be open to learning to continue to grow and understand. Since I was little, learning has been an important part of my life. With age and experience I have learnt that growth comes in many different ways!
Academically, I have been a life long student. Here are some of the highlights:
In addition to formal academic education, I have completed many trainings and I am always looking for ways to grow through additional workshops, through community building and advocacy, through research and teaching, as well as through the many relationships that I am privileged to hold.

The core of who I am is a person with a love for learning, growth, and just 'knowing' and understanding everything I can in this life.
I am an avid reader and outside 'work' books I have what some would deem 'unhealthy' love for true crime books, documentaries, and movies. I am known to send ridiculous cat and Taylor Swift Tik Toks to my friends daily (just ask my kids). I am a baseball and hockey mom, and can usually be found at a baseball diamond or hockey rink year round in the evenings. I complain about it constantly but it is also two of my favourite places to spend my time.
I sometimes am known to have 'dark humour', so if you are someone who also shares this I get you!! I also am told by my loved ones that I am not at all funny, yet when I tell a joke (and no one laughs) I think I am the most hilarious person on earth.
I absolutely LOVE to be outdoors - gardening and plants are my favourite things (my tropical plants are all named after my favourite Edmonton Oilers). I practice my self care through hiking and have had the privilege of hiking some of the most beautiful places in North America (Fun Fact: All of the photos found under 'services' are ones that I took myself!) I also love photography!
While I can go on for a long time, the most important things to know about me are that my most prized roles in life are as a helper, a wife, and as a mom of four humans who are my favourite people.
I look forward to getting to know you!
